Now Answers to Us Solar Power Questions

Open Question: Could someone help me with grammar?

I'm writing a persuasive paper on global warming and how solar power is the solution. I've allready had the first part checked so this is just the ending of the body and the conclussion. If someone could take a look at it, specifically my grammar(not so good with comma placement) i would realllly appreciate it. Also, i'm not sure what to do with the cites, are they a continuation of the previous sentence or are they alone? ie; should the period from the sentence go after the cite? Or should their be a period after the sentence AND the cite? btw i do have a works cited page so my prof says i only need the last/first name of the author. thanks so much to anyone who takes the time! Solar power is superior to the other alternatives in almost every way. Solar power is efficient, environmentally friendly, cheap, and has a low maintenance cost.(Rosenbloom, Stephanie.) Nuclear power, although efficient, is very dangerous because of intense radiation. Reactor meltdowns are not unheard of and human errors do occur. (Cohen, Bernard)Wind power is great for the environment, but being realistic, it is not a reliable source of energy, and initial costs to install wind turbines commonly exceed any gains that would be seen. (Broadbent, Russell) Hydro power is the currently the most prevalent of the various alternatives available, however we do not yet understand enough about how dams affect local wildlife which depend on the rivers. Dams are also extremely expensive to build and maintain. (Imhof, Aviva.) Many disclaimers of global warming fall back on the argument that there is no proof of any climate change. This is an easily refuted standpoint. As early as 1956, scientists in the global research program found proof that carbon dioxide concentrations were increasing around the world. Records will show that the ten warmest years of the century all occurred after the year1980, and the three hottest years occurred after 1990, with 1998 being the warmest year of all. (Environmental Defense Fund) It is obvious that the end of the century was warmer than the beginning of the century. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, agrees that warming has been primarily caused by human activities and is not just an anomaly. It is necessary that people believe in global warming so that changes might be implemented. If something is not done soon, it will be our children who must carry this awful burden, and face the consequences of our inaction. Global Warming is a very real and dangerous threat to our world that will surely destroy humankind if we continue to pretend that it does not exist through policies of inaction. So long as we stay on our current path it is not a question of if global warming will destroy our planet, but when. If something is not done immediately it may be too late to reverse it in the future. As the name implies, global warming affects everyone, and it will require everyone to do their part. You can make a difference. Install a solar grid to light, heat, and cool your house. Not only will you’re wallet thank you, but so will this beautiful planet that we inhabit. There is no easy fix for Global Warming, it took us thousands of years to start it and it will probably take decades of some serious change before we would begin to see major improvements, but through the energy of solar power we can begin to make a difference. You can make a difference. btw if anyone has any suggestions to any sentence changes, feel free, i'm looking for any advice or help i can get!  more

Open Question: Global warming paper, this is my intro, what do you think?

First of all, i know a lot of people who don't believe in global warming hang around this section and to those people i will say, i do not care, i don't know if i believe in it myself, but there are a lot of reliable sources on the topic and so i thought it would be a good idea for a research paper, so please keep your witty comments to yourselves. My paper is supposed to be a persuasive research paper, i have chosen to write it about how solar power is the answer to global warming. Again, whether or not you agree with my solution, i don't care if solar power is not the best way. If you have any suggestions or comments i would appreciate it. This is just my intro and thesis, and i like it, but it kinda doesn't flow real well in my oppinion if you know what i mean so if you have any suggestions i would appreciate it. thanks!@ "Global warming affects the world in a similar way that termites affect a house. Termites dig into the foundation of a house but go unseen and unheard right up until the point where the house comes crashing down on it‘s occupants. Global warming influences us in a very similar way and if we idly stand by this house will come crashing down on top of us. However, the issue of global warming presents a very unique hydra that defies any easy solution. There are many paths that could be used to solve this daunting problem, but the superior choice is clearly through solar power." hehe, actually jagsfan, i did one of our smaller research papers earlier in the year on this same topic except with nuclear power. If i had known we were going to need to write another one for our final research paper(35% of my grade) i would have saved the nuclear power idea because there seems to be the most info on that particular solution. My prof said if i wanted to do global warming again i had to choose a different solution.  more

Voting Question: Why Twelve Apostles (What Makes 12 So Special)?

There were: 12: brothers of Joseph Patriarchs from Seth to Noah and his family, and twelve from Shem to Jacob. Sons of Israel (though actually thirteen in number, there are never more than twelve names in any one list. There are about 18 enumerations altogether, but in each list one or other is omitted. Generally it is Levi, but not always. In Revelation 7 both Dan and Ephraim are omitted but the enumeration is still twelve, Levi and Joseph being introduced. 12 Judges 12 gates 12 pearls 12 angels New Jerusalem's measurements "Number of the Sealed" in Rev 7:4 12 anointed 1. Aaron, Exodus 29:7,9, etc. 2. Nadab, Exodus 29:7,9, etc. 3. Abihu, Exodus 29:7,9, etc. 4. Eleazar, Exodus 29:7,9, etc. 5. Ithamar, Exodus 29:7,9, etc. 6. Saul, 1 Samuel 10:1. 7. David, * 1 Samuel 16:13. 8. Absalom, 2 Samuel 19:10. 9. Solomon, 1 Kings 1:39. 10. Jehu, 2 Kings 9:6. 11. Joash, 2 Kings 11:12. 12. Jehoahaz, 2 Kings 23:30. It will be observed from the above list that Saul, the man of man's choice, is thus stamped with the number 6. (ps, remember "Saul" from the NT?) David, the man of God's choice is stamped with the number seven. Interestingly, the 6th Zodiac sign is “Virgo.” In astrology, Virgo is considered a "feminine", negative (introvert) sign. It is also considered an earth sign. (Are all Abrahamic religions Patriarchal?) Jesus was 12 years-old when he first appears in public (Luke 2:42). 12 legions of angels mark the perfection of angelic powers (Matthew 26:53). "6" In the Bible is the number of man, sometimes denoting interruption or defect in human government. The number twelve appears in many ancient Sun-Myths, dating to well before the Old Testament (The “creation story notwithstanding, as “Moses” could not have written the Pentateuch before 1,400 BCE.) Ask yourself: Is it just a coincidence that the year has twelve months and that the Zodiac is divided into twelve "houses," representing the twelve divisions of the year? There are twelve cycles of the moon in a year. The Jewish calendar is actually a Lunar calendar, with twelve months following the twelve cycles of the moon (Nisan, Iyyar, Sivan, Tammuz, Ab, Elul, Tishri, Cheshvan, Kislev, Tebeth, Shebat, Adar.) Occasionally it is necessary to throw in an extra month, Adar2, to keep the Jewish Lunar calendar in sync with the solar year, just as we occasionally throw in an extra day (Feb. 29) to keep our calendar in sync with the solar year. The prominence of the number 12 is always a strong sign that the story is an astrological allegory for the passage of the year. Modern scholarship tells us that the number "12" that we find in the New Testament concerning the number of Jesus' disciples refers to the twelve hours of the day or night, or the twelve moons of the lunar year (Cox, Aryan Mythology, vol. i. p. 165; Bonwick, Egyptian Belief, p. 175). In addition, Is it just a coincidence that Osiris, the Egyptian Savior, had twelve apostles (Bonwick, Encyclopedia of Egyptian Belief, p. 175)? In all religions of antiquity the number twelve, which applies to the twelve signs of the zodiac, are reproduced in all kinds and sorts of forms. For instance, such are the twelve great gods; the twelve apostles or Osiris; the twelve apostles of Jesus; the twelve sons of Jacob; the twelve tribes; the twelve altars of James; the twelve labors of Mars; the twelve brothers of Arvaux; the twelve gods Consents; the twelve governors in the Manichean System; the adectyas of the East Indies; the twelve asses of the Scandinavians; the city of the twelve gates in the Apocalypse; the twelve wards of the city; the twelve sacred cushions, on which the Creator sits in the cosmogony of the Japanese; the twelve precious stones of the rational, or the ornament worn by the high priest of the Jews, etc. (Dupuis, Origin of Religious Belief, pp. 39-40). Is there any rational doubt that the account of Jesus' having 12 Apostles is not a development from the influence of ancient Sun-Myths?  more

Resolved Question: Why is the US not talking Nuclear?

We are promised wind power, solar, and gas sipping technology but why not nuclear. Nuclear is completely clean. Why is no one talking about using nuclear for electricity and so on? Sticking fossil fuels carbon emmisons on the unborn is a filthy thing to do. Bailing out failing companies and sticking the bill to our unborn is corrupt but we're still doing it.  more

Resolved Question: How do YOU think we should BEST deal with the islamic terrorist threat (b4 they get US)? 10pts best answer?

Somebody on another question asked if we should simply nuke the middle eastern countries, and they also asked if not, how best to deal with this threat. I want YOUR answer, but MY answer I thought would work best was this: ========== 1) I am a conservative, so I hate radical terrorists in the middle east, so don't get mad at my answer for #2 2) as much as I would like to, our modern nuclear weapons are thermonuclear fusion bombs, which have an incredible amount of nuclear fallout and a gigantic blast radius. If we were to blow up 3 or more of them at once, it would create a nuclear winter, resulting in a giant dust cloud that would block out the sun for months, and the earth temperature would plummet to around 30 below. It would be a mass holocaust, over 3/4 of the people in the world would starve/freeze to death, from lack of solar energy and lack of food. Only the few lucky rich people with stored energy, food, and bomb shelters would survive. 3) However, I think that we can and should take care of Iran now. We should THREATEN to nuke them RIGHT NOW if they deny U.N. inspections 1 more time. We should check ALL of their nuclear power plants and hidden bases, etc., and ensure that they are not physically capable of producing WMD's. 4) As for the rest of the terrorists, we should just invade OPEC, steal their oil, and continue the war of terror on a different front, Iraq. We should launch a massive campaign into Saudi Arabia. After taking over their oil (and reassuring the U.N. that this is necessary for everyone's safety from islamofascists), we should continue an assault eastwards into Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. Along the way, we should do a few key things: A) investigate and disable any nuclear plants B) find al qaeda hideouts, and eliminate the hostile threat C) search for WMD's along the way D) drop and distribute pamphlets about america's wealth, democracy, freedom, happiness, and the ability to be Muslim in america and europe. This will teach them the errors of their ways, and further reduce support for radical islamic militant tyrants and al qaeda. E) Blow up any military airports along the way, that are either secret or owned by terrorists, that have or could have planes capable of carrying nuclear missiles. F) Lastly, this is a little far-fetched, but: we could ask our ally Egypt to allow us to simply build a relatively small anti-nuclear missle facility (STAR WARS) in a remote area. This way, any nuclear missiles launched from the middle east could be apprehended before they even reached close to our shores. good answers people! CLARIFICATION: letter E was NOT meaning nuclear bombs! It only takes a SMALL regular bomb to blow up a small airport. I didn't mean a nuke. I only want to threaten Iran with that, b4 they blow US UP! Ikran: 1) you're a Muslim who's defending terrorists. get the f*ck out of my country. 2) You WOULD have a point that religion has nothing to do with it... EXCEPT that EVERY TERRORIST ATTACK SINCE THE 1980'S, OVER 20 ATTACKS, HAS BEEN BY SELF-PROCLAIMED MUSLIM EXTREMISTS! Every- EVERY- terrorist on the 9/11 hijackings had the name mohammed! EVERY ONE! so shut up about religion/ethnicity not being involved! It is middle eastern radical muslim (NOT normal muslim, I SAID RADICAL) terrorists all the way! If you are a NORMAL muslim who doesn't want america blown up, then we ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT YOU, DO NOT GET OFFENDED. If you are a radical who hates civilized society and the progress of women, go f*ck yourselves and leave NOW. DO get offended, because I hate you worse than I hate the dogshit I step on sometimes on the way home from practice ====================== p.s. yousif, I knew you were a muslim before I even got to line 3 of your text. Also, your name gave it away. call it racist, call it stereotyping, call it racial profiling.... but being un-politically correct ALWAYS gets the job done quicker! Profiling muslim men at airports works better than searching little old ladies and setting restrictions on the # of muslims that can be searched. Attributing a name like muhammad or Yousif to a muslim is generally correct. you get the picture? ================================================ p.s. Hitler WAS NOT A CHRISTIAN! He was born in a christian nation (germany was pretty catholic at the time), and he was born into a christian family. However, he RENOUNCED his christianity/catholicism and stopped going to church right before he got into power. See the coincidence? WHILE HITLER WAS CHRISTIAN, HE WAS A POOR, HUMBLE STARVING ARTIST. AFTER HE TURNED FROM JESUS AND GOD, AND WAS ATHEIST, HE BECAME AN EVIL, SICK MASS MURDERER! see the correlation? Christianity=good, causes self-restraint atheism=bad, causes unrestricted evil ====================== tmess2, good points, even tho we disagree. I especially agree with the one I never really thought of that much: We have to appear to the middle eastern people to have ideals and morals, and not want to kill islam, simply only the ones that want to kill us. However, this could be solved very easily: including in the said "dropped packets" a section that gives details on 9/11 and other countless attacks, why we are here, that we only want to stop them from blowing us up aka the radicals, that we love islam and tolerance, and that we are for women's rights and human rights.  more

Resolved Question: did the big bang create you, because ive seen many explosions but have never seen any create a universe or life?

INTERSTING CREATION STORY, before the bible, but same message in the begininig was the universal mind, the cause of mind, and the cause of spirit, that which was formless, and void, infinite -GOD and out of this was born the Word, the son of god, that which is to take of a cause and together will and manifest, and they wer one (mind cannot create without spirit, there would be nothing to create, mind and spirit are one, so there is a universal cause of spirit and mind, which is god, and in order for the cause to exist, something would have to be born of it, to will it, which is how the word, or the son of god came to be, and was born of the cause, (an idea is invisible until thoughts create a word, then it is made visible) god and son of god- is life as we know That which in thee seeth and heareth, (your mind and spirit), is the the Word of the Lord, and the Mind the Father (cause of mind and cause of spirit), God, differ not one from the other; and the union of these is Life. now as this came to be when the word was created, in order for the will of the two to become a reality, the Will of God, to cause mind and spirit; which taking the Word, that which takes of it and creates through and with it, and beholding the beautiful World of the two as one, imitated it, and so made this World, visible, of form, our earth and solar system,by the principles or Soul-like productions of itself. THE WILL OF GOD CAUSED THE FORMATION OF THE VISIBLE WORLD, BY TAKING THE WORD, A MIND BORN OF UNIVERSAL MIND AND its IMITATING IT became the created world as we know For the Mind being God, Male and Female, Life(cause of manifestation) and Light (willer of manifestation), brought forth by his Word another Mind or Workman therefore, our mind and the universal mind together created another mind or sytem of creation, our solar system, the sensible world, visible, and called destiny, and was what god and the son of god created and our minds, united with the new mind, that of our and gods mind own creation, exalted itself into the clean and pure Workmanship of Nature, and was united to the Workman, Mind, for it was of the same substance; and so the downward born elements of Nature were left without Reason, so that they might be only Matter, because they were only images as the mind willeth, out of the lower or downward-born Elements, brought forth unreasonable or brutish Creatures, for they had no reason, the Air flying things, and the Water such as swim. 17. And the Earth and the Water were separated, either from the other, as the Mind would; and the Earth brought forth from herself, such living creatures as she had, four-footed and creeping beasts, wild and tame. 18. But the Father of all things, the Mind being Life and Light, brought forth Man like unto himself, whom he loved in his proper Birth; for he was all beauteous, having the image of his Father. God was exceedingly enamoured of his own form or shape, and delivered unto it all his own Workmanships. But he, seeing and understanding the Creation of the Workman(creation of what the son of god, and god made as one, or life as we know on earth) in the whole, would needs also himself fall to work, and so was separated from the Father, being in the sphere of Generation or Operation, and not being the operator so showed and made manifest the downward-born Nature, the fair and beautiful Shape or Form of God. . Which, when he saw, having in itself the unsatiable Beauty, and all the operations of the Seven Governors(our planets are visible forms of the spirits of god, each planet has a spiritual influence on us, or zodiac, everything has a purpose, our sun represents the cause of spirit and mind, continously bringing life,), and the Form or Shape of God, he smiled for love, and started loving to live and cohabit with it, and therefore became subject to senses, which are ungodly, and subject to and bound to earthly, or created things, Man above all things that live upon earth is double: Mortal, because of his body, and Immortal, because of the substantial Man. For being immortal, and having power of all things, he yet suffers mortal things, and such as are subject to Fate or Destiny. This is the Mystery that to this day is hidden and kept secret; for Nature being mingled with man, brought forth a Wonder most Wonderful; for he having the nature of the Harmony of the Seven, from him whom I told thee, the Fire(cause of life and the Spirit(will of life), Nature brought forth seven Men, all Males and Females, according to the Natures of the seven Governors, or planets And man was made of Life and Light, now being in a body was made into soul and Mind; --of Life the soul, of Light the Mind--(our soul is what spirit and mind together has become) (our soul is the spirit we are now, our mind is what we will of it) we are not bodies, eerything we are is what we are spiritually, and our mind is a builder of spirit “In the beginning was the Word [the Christ], and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Voting Question: Why hasn't the solar paneled hover craft been created yet?

I mean in all honesty we should already be living off solar powered energy resources and wind powered, and wave powered resources. We should technically only have a small fee to pay each month to maintain our power sources and keeping them clean. Not to mention that our vehicles should already be powered by the sun, our cars should have sensors so they turn off to avoid an accident. Then we wouldn't need insurance because if you are a bad driver your car turns off to prevent accidents. I am sorry I just find that Americans are becoming more and more wasteful. And I wish we would prevent it. To be happy with what we have like family and our dwellings and to seek advancement in technology to aid us in our life's to limit waste.  more

Third world kids have free solar-powered laptops, and almost all of Europe has universal wireless internet - where ever you stand. Ford sold 20 percent of theri shares in Mazda (a japanese company) to remain solvent. The US is trying to find out how to get over building gas-guzzling SUVs. Some excerpts: “My presidency will mark a new chapter in America’s leadership on climate change that will strengthen our security and create millions of new jobs in the process. That will start with a federal cap and trade system. We will establish strong annual targets that set us on a course to reduce emissions to their 1990 levels by 2020 and reduce them an additional 80% by 2050." "But too often, Washington has failed to show the same kind of leadership. That will change when I take office. My presidency will mark a new chapter in America’s leadership on climate change that will strengthen our security and create millions of new jobs in the process. That will start with a federal cap and trade system. We will establish strong annual targets that set us on a course to reduce emissions to their 1990 levels by 2020 and reduce them an additional 80% by 2050. Further, we will invest $15 billion each year to catalyze private sector efforts to build a clean energy future. We will invest in solar power, wind power, and next generation biofuels. We will tap nuclear power, while making sure it’s safe. And we will develop clean coal technologies. This investment will not only help us reduce our dependence on foreign oil, making the United States more secure." "And once I take office, you can be sure that the United States will once again engage vigorously in these negotiations, and help lead the world toward a new era of global cooperation on climate change. Resolved Question: Question on the last Heroes episode?

In the last episode of Heroes, who was the person that Suresh injected the formula into, who is now becoming a monster? I know they told us, I just can't remember. Is it Maya? Also, was it supposed to be left as unclear whether or not Peter let the gas come out of that pipe that Flint blew up (meaning he would have re-gained his power of telekinesis)? And, do you think that Claire is the 3rd part of the formula (whatever they called it - c-something)? She is the obvious answer to being the third part of the formula, because of what Sylar said about her (which I thought of the moment they mentioned that the 3rd part of the formula was a person). However, I feel like they gave away that it was her so easily that it must be a trick, that later they'll give a good reason for it to be someone else to make the viewers think its a plot twist. Who do you think it is? And what is the reason behind the solar eclipse taking away their powers? I understand that the eclipses gave them their powers (one in the first episode or so, one right before Adam Monroe got his powers in ancient Japan, and I guess there must have been one right before Kaito Nakamura, Angela petrelli, arthur petrelli, thompson, invisible claude man, etc got their powers). But what is the reason why the eclipses give / take away their powers? would you do it. knowing that we have enough resources to feed the whole world plenty sufficiently. we have can provide the whole world with unlimited power by using much more environmentally beneficial means of power... such as wind power, water power, geothermal power, solar power - plus more. rather than fuel and oil which is what is damaging our environment. we could further technology because corporations and governments are holding technology back to keep their best selling products at the top of the commerce ladder. i.e. electric powered cars can't break into the market because oil brings in too much revenue... and yes, they are fast enough and last plenty long enough to be totally sufficient ways of transportation... this is but one example of many technological hinderences due to the commerce market. not to mention, money (or lack there of) is killing millions of people everyday who can't afford to eat, all the while there is more than enough food to feed the entire world. the reason we have 3rd world countries is primarily due to money. all in all money and corporations are holding us back us as a human race as well as allowing an immense amount of people to die everday unnecesarily. sorry if this is coming off more of a statement rather than a question... just gimme your honest thoughts. best answer will be based on honest answers (to the best of my nterpretation) and well thought out answers. even if you don't agree with everything i said, that doesn't disqualify - i like to be informed on the opposing sides as well.  more

Resolved Question: I can solve all of the Economic Problems, Do you think my plan will work?

The establishment of another branch of armed forces to deal with war on energy,"The Energy Force"- To be equal in power to existing branches of armed forces,Army,Navy,Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard. This new force will be tasked with and funded to convert our nation to a "greener" place. (once operational, designed to be self-funding)EX: Construction of alternative energy stations nationwide (conversion of existing service stations using oil)Collection of revenues from Green Energy will be The Energy Force's Job. All US held automobile manufacturers will be seized and converted by Energy Force to build Electric, Hydrogen fuel cell cars. The use of Gasoline and petroleum-based fuels will be outlawed and replaced by Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles by 2010. All troops and diplomats withdrawn from middle east and oil war areas by 2010. All debts repaid to China and other nations by 2010 Every American Citizen as of 2010 allowed to stay in country with full health care benefits, all others must leave. My Presidency will legalize marijuana and scientifically exploit all industrial aspects of this plant. I will lift ban of stem cell research and enthusiastically fund any research that can better mankind's ability to heal disease. Any adult in good standing legally can commit to any other adult as they see fit for purposes of marriage in any state or protectorate of the US. US Energy Force will be responsible for all of the nation's energy needs, there will no longer be an open market for energy and power, as this will be the sole area of focus for new Force. Under this authority, all Power companies (Consolidated Edison,etc...) will become the property of the Energy Force. Wind Generators will be constructed nationwide and offshore where wind abound.Solar arrays, wave farms, all viable alternative sources of Energy will be studied and used. All of this infrastructure will be run by enlistees of this new Force. All teenage students who wish to get a vehicle when they turn 14 may join the Energy Force as early as 10 years old. All Americans who wish to own a vehicle for personal use, must do work for Energy Force to earn a vehicle and a license. All roads and highways in this country will be outfitted for autopilot as there will be 0 tolerance for automobile accidents, deaths, injuries, etc. All transportation to be computer controlled and free for all who join Energy Force. The new jobs in all areas of converting and maintaining new transportation systems will generate millions of jobs. All Commercial and private transportation will be regulated by Energy Force. In our country, all citizens will be provided with free transportation for any purpose as long as they are a contributing reservist in the Energy Force. The Energy Force will be set up like conventional military with schools, housing, basic training, full health benefits, recruiting offices and facilities for public education. Once one joins Energy Force they are a member of that branch of the armed forces until they wish to stop driving or using energy. Every Us Citizen will be eligible to join the Energy Force, including those who are in jail. It is hoped that many can be released to work towards building new American Energy plan. If elected President I will make it so the voting age is lowered to and a part of joining Energy Force at 10years old. Everyone in this country can contribute to a greener country, those who are too old or too feeble to work will be given classes in how to conserve. A Big part of the Energy Force will be using today's youth to be involved with our elders and disabled in community programs promoting Energy Independence. I will promote the arts and sciences more than the religious groups, and I WILL welcome all helpful input towards stated goals. The Energy force will take us out of our troubles and fix things as they should be. The United States will be free of many bad things if you elect me: No more electric bills No more gas bills No more transportation worries ( all who join Energy Force earns vehicle) No more traffic accidents ( Road network fixed with Autopilot interface stripes in pavement) No more Deaths by car No more highway noise zones near neighborhoods (hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are quiet and clean) No more failing US Auto Companies No More Failing Airlines No more war for oil ( hopefully no more U.S. bullying of oil countries, thus less terrorism etc... Resolved Question: 2012...not exactly worried but curious and confused?

they're saying it ends and have excellent reasons why: uhmm i kind of agree wiht them but they're also saying (no to sound crazy) that aliens are trying to contact us to save us from 2012 destruction and world war three and try taking us to a new dimension. So i find so suspicious it drives me wild to know whats going on. with so many problems going in the world right now. It could be possible. (i got this a from a website.) 7 Reasons why the worlds can end at 2012 Read it to believe it 1. Mayan Calendar The first mob to predict 2012 as the end of the world were the Mayans, a bloodthirsty race that were good at two things: Building highly accurate astrological equipment out of stone and Sacrificing Virgins. Thousands of years ago they managed to calculate the length of the lunar moon as 329.53020 days, only 34 seconds out. The Mayan calendar predicts that the Earth will end on December 21, 2012. Given that they were pretty close to the mark with the lunar cycle, it's likely they've got the end of the world right as well. 2. Sun Storms Solar experts from around the world monitoring the sun have made a startling discovery: our sun is in a bit of strife. The energy output of the sun is, like most things in nature, cyclic, and it's supposed to be in the middle of a period of relative stability. However, recent solar storms have been bombarding the Earth with so much radiation energy, it's been knocking out power grids and destroying satellites. This activity is predicted to get worse, and calculations suggest it'll reach its deadly peak sometime in 2012.. 3. The Atom Smasher Scientists in Europe have been building the world's largest particle accelerator. Basically its a 27km tunnel designed to smash atoms together to find out what makes the Universe tick. However, the mega-gadget has caused serious concern, with some scientists suggesting that it's properly even a bad idea to turn it on in the first place. They're predicting all manner of deadly results, including mini black holes. So when this machine is fired up for its first serious experiment in 2012, the world could be crushed into a super-dense blob the size of a basketball. 4. The Bible says... If having scientists warning us about the end of the world isn't bad enough, religious folks are getting in on the act aswell. Interpretations of the Christian Bible reveal that the date for Armageddon, the final battle between Good an Evil, has been set down for 2012. The I Ching, also known as the Chinese book of Changes, says the same thing, as do various sections of the Hindu teachings. 5. Super Volcano Yellowstone National Park in the United States is famous for its thermal springs and Old Faithful geyser. The reason for this is simple - it's sitting on top of the world's biggest volcano, and geological experts are beginning to get nervous sweats. The Yellowstone volcano has a pattern of erupting every 650,000 years or so, and we're many years overdue for an explosion that will fill the atmosphere with ash, blocking the sun and plunging the Earth into a frozen winter that could last up to 15,000 years. The pressure under the Yellowstone is building steadily, and geologists have set 2012 as a likely date for the big bang. 6. The Physicists This one's case of bog-simple maths mathematics. Physicists at Berekely Uni have been crunching the numbers. and they've determined that the Earth is well overdue for a major catastrophic event. Even worse, they're claiming their calculations prove, that we're all going to die, very soon - while also saying their prediction comes with a certainty of 99 percent- and 2012 just happens to be the best guess as to when it occurs. 7. Slip-Slop-Slap-BANG! We all know the Earth is surrounded by a magnetic field that sheilds us from most of the sun's radiation. What you might not know is that the magnetic poles we call north and south have a nasty habit of swapping places every 750,000 years or so - and right now we're about 30,000 years overdue. Scientists have noted that the poles are drifting apart roughly 20-30kms each year, much faster than ever before, which points to a pole-shift being right around the corner. While the pole shift is underway, the magnetic field is disrupted and will eventually disappear, sometimes for up to 100 years. The result is enough UV outdoors to crisp your skin in seconds, killing everything it touches.  more

Voting Question: Can we fix this Country? Part 1?

I am going to try. I think if we can all talk about what to fix and how, we might do something worthwhile here. I am strongly for motor-wind generators, ( I use a wind generator on my yacht with a 1000 w solar panel) . I have seen a new kind of wind generator that can be made and maintained very inexpensively called a motorwind generator. I think if we install these on all public buildings and lands across the US we could generate many new jobs in manufacture, installation, and upkeep of these wind farms. I have done some of the math and it looks like Obama's proposed 15B annual budget could easily cover the completion of this project by 2020. The electric from this could provide every home and business a constant flow of free power once project is finished. I also see solar as a means to promote jobs and energy. Should this be priority 1?, 2?, 3? What are your thoughts?  more

Resolved Question: Solar Powered Water Trough?

I am looking for a water trough that is solar powered. It gets pretty cold here (down to -40 and colder with the windchill) and already I am having problems keeping the water thawed. Everyday I have to go out and break the ice off the tank and then fill it with pails of water from the hydrant in the barn. I was wondering if anyone had a tank similar to these ones or if they know of a manufacturer that makes the same. I live in Canada so shipping from the US is okay if it is reasonably priced. Resolved Question: Do oil companies want to keep people from producing their own hydrogen at home?

I've been reading that it would be very cost effective for people to just install their own solar powered electrolysis machines at home to produce their own Hydrogen. (TG got me onto it). Anyways, do you really think the big energy companies are going to allow people to produce their own fuel, essentially for free? Do you think once people figure it out they can stop us? Probably make it illegal or something.  more

Resolved Question: Yay, an end to energy in America. Aren't you excited?

"Let me sort of describe my overall policy. What I've said is that we would put a cap and trade system in place that is as aggressive, if not more aggressive, than anybody else's out there. I was the first to call for a 100% auction on the cap and trade system, which means that every unit of carbon or greenhouse gases emitted would be charged to the polluter. That will create a market in which whatever technologies are out there that are being presented, whatever power plants that are being built, that they would have to meet the rigors of that market and the ratcheted down caps that are being placed, imposed every year. So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted. That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in solar, wind, biodiesel and other alternative energy approaches. The only thing I've said with respect to coal, I haven't been some coal booster. What I have said is that for us to take coal off the table as a (sic) ideological matter as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it. So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. It's just that it will bankrupt them." Obama's own words 2008  more

Resolved Question: Do you agree with Obama/Biden or McCain/Palin on coal?

I don't know why this story is coming out now, but back in January Obama made these statements in an interview with the SF Chronicle: "If somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted." "That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in wind, solar, biodiesel and other alternative energy approaches. Here is the McCain/Palin response: “My friends, I’ve been a coal booster and it’s going to create jobs, and we’re going to export coal to other countries and we are going to create hundreds of thousands of jobs. That’s going to help restore the economy of the great state of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.” http://climateprogress.org/2008/11/03/revealing-comments-on-coal-from-obama-and-mccain/ Who do you agree with on this issue?  more

Resolved Question: Do you think this is a better idea than Kevin Rudd's Carbon Tax?!?

For those of you who aren't from Australia, what our Prime Minister wants to do is put a tax on the amount of carbon we release, which will be directed at factories, but the cost will be passed onto us, eg. electricity will go up, fuel will cost more... Well firstly I think the idea is ridiculous, seeing as I believe global warming isn't man made, but I think I've got an idea which is better and will reduce CO2 and the dependance on coal fired power. What if they passed a law which made it so every new home built had at least 1 solar panel on the roof? It would cut electricity usage, reduce CO2 and SAVE people money, rather than slugging us with another tax. What do you think?  more

His preconditions make it impossible to expand nuclear energy at this time. From The Wall Street Journal: On nuclear power, Sen. Obama says he's open to expanding nuclear energy, which now provides 20% of the nation's electricity, as part of an effort to increase power sources that emit little or no carbon dioxide. But he also has said there is no future for expanded nuclear energy until the U.S. comes up with a safe, long-term solution for disposing of nuclear waste. Resolved Question: How can we best thwart the New World Order (NWO) agenda ?

A. Voting them out of power could prove to be a challenge since they control the media, message, candidates, and now even the election ballot count. B. Supporting a militia is suppose to be constitutional, but it would also be a great excuse to instate Martial Law. Something the NWO planners would probably love to see: What better way to round up Identified potential revolutionary leaders, show off advanced military weaponry and pop off the "over population problem". Besides, who or what would one revolt against; you can bet top NWO leaders are in fortified "castles" overseas. Maybe we can alter our own behavior and force the power structure to the will of the people by stopping our support for their established system. At the very least, weaken their power hold on us. Here are some suggestions "Zeitgeist" offers: 1. Expose the Federal Reserve Cartel: Boycott Citibank, J P Morgan Chase and Bank of America. 2. Expose the News Networks: Boycott CNN, NBC, ABC, and Fox. 3. Expose the Military: Boycott the military since today's military is controlled by corporations not the will of the people. 4. Expose the Energy Companies: Boycott established energy companies. Make your home and car self-sustainable with solar, wind and other non-established energy sources. 5. Expose the Political System: Democracy is an illusion; the two party system is controlled by the same powers. Focus transcending this corrupt system. 6. Create Critical Mass: Join the movement for social change; mobilize and educate everyone of the inherent corruption of our current world system. they say we cause pollution by littering and not recycling (and other reasons of course. but apparently, if we litter, then all the garbage on the streets just gets burned, and there for pollutes our air, leading on to one of the leading crisis, global warming. so umm, instead of burning all that garbage, why can't we have it simply taken to the same people who recycle and all that? and cars are also one of the biggest causes to global warming. why can't everyone just use solar powered cars.. or other resources. ive seen over 200 other things that can make cars run as good as anything. why is it such a complicated thing when the solutions are simple. why doesn't our government end its war crime streak, and leave iraq alone, and leave its oil? do they just want us to rot? anyone else think our government is just fucking us over?  more

Resolved Question: Which alternative energy source do you think is most practical?

There are many, many, alternative energy sources solar, hydro-electric, wind, electricity, bio-fuels and such, geo-thermal, nuclear, and the list could go on for a long, long time, but which energy source do you think is the most practical? Like in the future, which energy sources will be used. I think solar energy is a great idea, and that we have only scratched the surface of what it could do for us. However, as of now solar energy has some flaws, for example you could use solar energy in California easily because it is sunny for most of the year, but in states like Oregon/Washington where it rains a lot, you couldn't use it as efficiently. I don't know why, but I have never been a big fan on hydro-electric power... I mean, I know dams can produce enough power to give energy to entire cities, but there is always the chance of the dam breaking, if you've happened to watch a special about dams, you might have heard that many dams that have been inspected are classified as not safe... I dunno... Lots of people like hydro-electric, it just never seemed to turn me on.. Wind... lots of people like wind power.... I mean, it, out of all the energy sources is probably the cleanest... its just that, they don't generate a tremendous amount of power as of now at least... Electricity is my favorite, thus I'd give a biased explanation favoring it, so I won't even bother. Bio Fuels... The only problem that I really have is, what if there is a blizzard or drought how are you going to get your Bio Fuel? Like solar, I think Geo-Thermal could be used to generate more energy than it does, but I have always thought it as.. I don't know how to explain it... sort of an old idea... I know lots of people use it to heat there homes but I think it can be reinvented to be greater than it is. Nuclear-Powerful, Dangerous. So, which source do you think is the answer? Or do you think a combination of some of the energy sources will be the future. Or do you think we will find a new source of energy in the future that will surpass all the current forms, maybe from space or something. Or do you think we won't survive to find out... So yeah... what do you think?  more

Resolved Question: 7 reasons the world will end in 2012?

Don't know whether its true or not, but just thout of sharing it to you. 7 reasons the world will end in 2012 Scientific experts from around the world are genuinely predicting that five years from now, all life on Earth could well finish. Some are saying it'll be humans that set it off. Others believe that a natural phenomenon will be the cause. And the religious folks are saying it'll be God himself who presses the stop button... 1. This activity is predicted to get worse, and calculations suggest it'll reach its deadly peak sometime in 2012 3. The result is enough UV outdoors to crisp your skin in seconds, killing everything it touches.  more

Voting Question: What are you looking For?

What are you voting for in this next election? Not who but what topics and sides of those topics do you see as important to yourself. I personally see three issues for myself, Energy, we need a lot of energy, at this moment in time we do not have the technology to make Solar or Wind as efficient enough to power the grids in America, so we do need Nuclear, Nuclear plants can store their own waste in concrete tombs that they are required to have. Also I see Offshore drilling is long overdue, and our currently Battery Technology is not up to snuff when you compare to the energy stored in gasoline. there are many oil wells of the western coast of the US that can be tapped and running within the next 6 months but due to red tape are not. 2. Economy, we do not need higher taxes on the small business owners of the country because you tax those supplying jobs and they will not make more. they might contract it. also we need to stop printing more and more money we can not fix everything by throwing money at it. it is a free market economy let it run if someone screws up they should have prepared better. 3. Corruption in Washington - at this moment in time if you are a senator, representative, and anything in between you had to sell yourself to someone. This has to end. I am tired of people running for their job in congress and want someone that runs for the people they represent. let them worry about reelection on weekends, or limit it so you are in the house have term limits of 10 years, and if your a senator term limits of 12, this would help because you wouldnt have the 28 time representatives that have become engulfed with themselves and are not allowing those who followed in their footsteps their fair chance. anyways this is how i feel just curious what the general consensus is out there  more

Resolved Question: Great satan. Is the Pentagram design the reason why some call America Satan or is it related in some way?

So, our governmental center has several satanic symbols hidden from the citizens of this "christian rhetoric" based country. How clever. http://www.cuttingedge.org/n1040.html Dont call me a theorist, I think Davy Rockefeller proved it was not theoretical when he openly admitted that he and his groupies are using their financial power and influence to shape the globe and he is proud of it (Memiors- D. Rockefeller Chairman, CEO Chase Manhatton, majority shareholder of the Federal Reserve of NY). Oh and whadya know, D-Rock is the chairman of the CFR too, hmm, how about that influence? Dont give me any rediculous cop-out explanations about the pentagram road layout in DC. This isnt just a "theory." To fill you in, no matter what my antogonists will post about that symbols meaning, it is occultic and it has been ever since man looked at the stars. In 13 earth years Venus orbits the sun 8 times and in the 8 it is side by side with earth 5 times. Draw a dot for each time and connect them and you get the pentagram. So, I am not some delusional psycho. I am a man who watches, researches, and questions the government, as ALL Americans should. It seems that when people question the government a campaign is launched against them so as to blind people from the truth and rather focus the attention on something else, like the individuals sanity or mental disposition. Honestly, its common sense to question the governement but they have us thinking we are wrong to do so and anyone who does is a nut. I see people pushing to have the bible, God, prayer, and everything Christian out of government institutions. How about removing the F****** pentagram from our nations capital!!!!!!! I think the majority of Americans have given up. They've given up on being active in their government. They have seen that it is senseless to try because the powers that be just dont give a terd about them or our opinions, can I get a recount! After all, we are just serfs to this credit system and who are we really working for, ourselves? No, i think we are working for people like David Rockefeller and the banks. Obviously, and every now and then we get tossed a bone but not without a price. By the way, these crazies who are behind this stuff are big on the dates that easch dot on the pentagram is made and they are even more into the solar maximum. Sept 11, 1990 Bush Sr. announces the NWO is coming. Then Sept 11 2001 we have a "terrorist attack" (ya, right, Box Cutters!! thats rediculous!!) that led to acts which are akin to communist China, like the Patriot Act; for example, and you better agree that its for the best without question or you, my friend, are "un-patriotic." So, are all these the reasons why the USA is being called the great satan or is there another? Ouch! I bet I am going to be attacked for this one, or yahoo will just delete it, as they have others. Believe it or not, the pentagram was used before christianity even existed. Also, it has 5 points and to Cyrstal Clear it stands for 4 symbols, thats genius, lmao! Its the star of Baphomet smarty. Amusing myself with theories, you're right, the map is just a theory and not objective verifiable evidence at all, another brilliant response! and to you, keep your pants on please, Pansof, if the pentagram isnt a satanic symbol, why is on the satanic bible? you guys need to study up on logic and religion. All the best! Here is some more objective verifiable evidence, or as some call it "theories" (which is part of the exact opposite) and by the way, it might come across as ranting and raving because i expect emotionally charged responses that are both wrong or partially wrong (but may include good points, nonetheless) and since the burden of proof is on the one asking the question (thats a part of logic, i hope i didnt lose anyone) i may "rant and rave" as you call it to defend my reasoning for asking. So again, why would this "humble" nation be called the great satan? any other reasons? http://www.infowars.com/?p=5524  more

Resolved Question: Can the following idea work to save the United States & Re-Invent Itself? R U Reading this Brun the Leader?

I tried to Answer Brun the Leader but Yahoo can't handle the size of my answer. But it's a GREAT idea on how to neuter the banks and break us out of this recession, pay off our national debt, and bring unemployment in the USA down to 0. My question is ... IS THIS FEASIBLE? I voted for Chuck Baldwin. Chuck wants to eliminate the Fed. THAT is the only way that I can see of stopping the bankers. Chuck wants to remove the power of money creation from the Fed & return it to Congress. When the Fed "created" that $700 billion out of NOTHING they then gave it to the banks to HELP them. The banks then LOANED the money back to people, govt, etc WITH INTEREST. It cost nothing to make it and cost the banks nothing to get it but we have to pay them back? What a crock! If you eliminate the FED ... you cut off their FREE money. The Fed is all the Ruling Families & they charge the govt interest on the $700 billion when they make it. So the FED is making interest on it AND the banks are making interest on it. The Fed has this country on lock down in that we can NEVER pay back what we owe. We can barely cover the interest on the money we owe already. I just published the answer to this whole mess on Triond yesterday. It involves another bail-out but this time it would give the money to GM on condition that they rebuild DEtroit, build NEW homes and build a NEW auto plant that is the MOST advanced of ANY auto plant in the world. Robots & all. They would produce ONLY electric cars and hybrids capable of getting 300 mpg or better. ( see Aptera.com ... they are already making them in Carlsbad, Calif. ) They would design these cars to be the best in the world. We have the technology, we have the expertise, we have the resources, GM just needs a boost of cash AND A NEW DIRECTION! WE need to incorporate the ideals of A. Edward Deming (deceased) who rebuilt the Japanese economy after WWII and Ford in 1980. GM needs to focus on cars that will go 300 miles for $3.25. Rebuilding Detroit will bring thousands of new jobs. Giving a lump of money to GE for windmill design and production will make us the global leader in windmills AND solar panels. GERMANY is the current leader in solar. WE NEED THAT and we can TAKE it from them. This is an industry that is new and fresh and needs inexpensive alternative to the expensive panels that are available now. Dream with me here for a second. Imagine Detroit all rebuilt with thousands of new homes, and refurbished old ones. Take Brad PItt's idea for New Orleans and use that for Detroit. New homes, thousands of new jobs, new industries. Happy employed people making a product they can be proud of and supplying the world with the best product for the lowest price. No greed, just MASS production. Solar cars, electric cars. I have a friend who is patenting a magnetic motor that will generate enough power (35 amps) to re-charge a bank of 25 batteries in an electric car. These magnet motors can run 24/7 for 20 years with NO cost. You could put one or two in a car and drive up to 200 miles to work. The batteries are re-charged while you are at work for 8 hours. You drive up to 200 miles home and the batteries charge up while you sleep. You take the family to the beach on SAturday and while your kids play on the beach the batteries are re-charged. You go to work ... go to the beach ... go anywhere you want ... and there is NO cost for fuel. Gasoline prices drop to 25c / gallon like in 1960 and Exxon BEGS people to use fuel. Exxon finally gives up and starts making solar panels and hydrogen fuel cells or they make compressed air engines from the designs that are currently being studied in India. The United STates Re-Invents itself. We bring all the jobs HOME. We bring FORD AND GM plants from overseas HOME. What if we could make a transport ship that runs on solar power. Use solar paint and solar panels all over the surface of the ship. Have a back up of a nuclear powered engine for when there is fog. These cargo ships could deliver our products all over the world at NO FUEL COST! We would employ thousands making these ships. Other countries would create a waiting list for these ships. Think we CAN'T design and build these? Nonsense. WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY. WE are the most advanced country in the world when we WANT to be. If we diverted our WAR MACHINE and converted all those factories to producing INEXPENSIVE solar panels and electric cars we would be the WORLD SOURCE and the country would prosper. Hell, we would do MORE than prosper. We could pay OFF our national debt, eliminate the Fed, close the IRS, and convert the IRS buildings into billing departments for the world's corporations. WE could become the information hub of the world. We already control the computer industry and could solidify that in a heartbeat if we wanted to. BUt the govt would have to CREATE a few Trillion dollars in cash and GIVE it to the corporations that SHOW that they can TAKE OVER A WORLD MARKET! The money could ONLY be  more

Voting Question: Math problem dealing with the solar system help!?

(a) Calculate the volume of water that we would have to consume (by fusing its H into He, just like the Sun does) in order to supply a year's worth of energy for the U.S. Hints: consider that water is about 10% hydrogen by mass and that it's density is 1 gm/cm^3 . Take care about unit conversions! (b) Calculate how much total energy the Sun gives to the Earth in a year give that the total luminosity of the Sun is 4 x 10^26 W. Hint: remember that the surface area of a sphere is 4 pie R^2 and use this to calculate the solar energy that hits the Earth in its orbit at 1 AU by approximating the Earth as a circle of cross sectional area pie R^2, where R is Earth's radius. Remember to use the correct units! What fraction of this would need to be captured to supply the energy needs of the U.S. (c) The highest efficiencies for solar cells approach 33%. According to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the annual average solar energy (called insolation) hitting California is around 6kWhr/m^2/day. How large an area would you have to cover with new solar collectors to power the US? Assume that we use the same amount of energy every day. Convert your answer into square km or square miles. Is this a large area?  more

Resolved Question: Why do both main Candidates keep referring to Clean Coal ? It doesn't exist...period!?

There is not one single Coal fired power plant in the US right now that has an emission containment system in place, the technology exists but has yet to be built...further, Bush stopped the construction of a Prototype super plant In favor of several smaller ones, but that was never funded either. So while Clean Coal sounds good, in fact it's at least 10 years out before it's practical... in that same time frame we could erect several, Tide, Wind and Solar farms.. with existing, safe technology... why do they both Insist on Nuclear and Coal ? I know they are both subject to heavy Lobby Money.. but wouldn't a "truly" greener approach give either one of them a serious push with independents and Moderates...who all, place environment high on their list of issues ? edit: Cajundude, I'm just speaking to the fact that they're using it like it's an environmental Talking point, they're both dead wrong.. Nuclear energy is an abomination, and Clean Coal is a Flagrant exageration... we can't lead the world if we can't get our own act together.  more

Resolved Question: Is it that the election is racist?

Where are the liberals and conservatives for the past few elections we've had. The American Government I believe has it set up for citizens to be either democrat or republican. And I'm neither. First because Obama is making too risky of moves by making things "free for everybody (ex. hospital insurance for everyone like immigrants, no wonder there's no more QA at Metro.) and disarming space. Secondly from quoting his book, " I'm willing to stand and have creditbility with the Muslims in case the political winds were to shift here in America". And the Republican party is just bold and crazy with their plans. It seems that the head honcho, Possibly the Pope or some secret society has everything set up properly for destruction. Either way were going to end up F_cked. "DONT VOTE, And let the controllers choose for themselves, because your vote doesn't really count." We need someone whose talking branching away and completely off the oil. Reforming America into the solar power age, which will get our Economy and wall street back on track for the working people. Where is our savior because it's definately not Obama nor McCain. It is an Obamanation (Abomination) unto God to vote. And to all those who say "Vote", Go ask your motherboard for instructions so you will know what to do. God made men and women to think on their own with out influence from others. But yet people in the world act no different from the computer. Even though our brains is better we can't think for ourselves. The media tells us Obama is a brother and he isn't, he's bi-racial. And if he is a brother then he is not the first brother to be president, there's others like Abraham Lincoln. Furthermore Al Sharpton, Rev. Jesse Jackson those are brothers. Get it right and Wake up to do your homework. F' the Media and the Corporate World of America.  more

Resolved Question: Any good Google 10^100 videos?

OMG I am gobsmacked and in utter disbelief at the absolute naive, half-baked, already-invented-and-implemeted, cost prohibitive crock of ideas I have found on YouTube as entrants for "Google's 10 to the 100 project". Quickly - Google is wanting to spend US$10m in developing up to 5 ideas the public have for helping change the world. Categories include helping via education, community, energy, housing, health etc. Entry is via submitting a form explaining your idea and if you wish, a 30 sec video on YouTube to accompany it. BTW it's hilarious to see people say at the 28 sec mark after a lengthy suck up to Google "so my idea is..." BZZZZ. Too late. 30 secs is up buddy... I entered the search terms "google 10 project" and started looking at some ideas. Truth be known I was hoping I'd find loads of excellent ideas and videos to scare me out of doing my own for my idea. OMG. I have yet to find ANYTHING that is remotely inspiring or indeed evidence that brains inhabit these people's heads. Honestly, try yourself by looking some up on YouTube. A brief run down of the ideas I've seen so far. Remember the key points when considering the vaibility of these ideas 1. $10m is not the prize to the person with the best idea, it is funding to get up to 5 ideas off and running. 2. It is for UNIQUE ideas not ones that have already been tried or are in the process of being implemented 3. Consider the costs: 1. Put satellites in the sky and send messages to satellite dishes so that people can communicate all around the world. 2. Get rid of obesity. That was the whole idea. Just get rid of it... 3. Use all the left over food from schools and restaurants and give it to homeless people. 4. Google should get everyone to send in their old computers, they will fix them up and sell them to 3rd world countries for $20 each 5. Build a city on water 6. Build a car that runs on water 7. Every family in the west adopts a family in poverty and helps pay for things for them 8. Put solar panels on everyones roofs and then they can sell the excess energy to the electric companies and get paid instead of paying 9. Google should invent a game to teach people that giving is better than taking. Do a giving action - you get points. Do a taking action - you lose points. 10. Fill jet engines with water and "some sort of coolant" so that when it runs it produces "some sort of cool air" instead of creating heat 11. Use the science behind "rubbing your hands together creates heat which is energy" to power the world (granted this was a teenager, so I'll forgive the lack of science/energy transference knowledge) 12. Wind turbines on Jupiter 13. Replace all pavements and roads with removeable panels so that road works don't distrupt traffic while they break up the concrete to fix pipes etc 14. Google should get companies to pay them for every click from a Google website and that money should go to charities. 15. People should have funraisers (sic) and give the money to help turn cloudy skies blue The only decent ideas I have found so far are an online/interactive Google University with recognised degrees utilising all of Google's products. FLAW I think more than $10m is going to be needed to even get this off the ground and there are a lot of online universities already, albeit not on the scale of this person's idea. The other idea is a light bulb that utilises LED's to reduce energy useage by 80%. FLAW energy efficient light bulbs have been invented, the problem is the cost efficiency to produce them, the cost for people to buy them and the fact that electric companies (and this addresses the flaw in some of the ideas above) are often a huge source of income for governments and surprise, surprise if they are private, they kinda like making money! So turning our world into a "free power" world is going to take a lot of persuasion, a looooooooooong time, a hell of a lot more than $10m and perhaps some peace-love-and-mung-beans type drugs to induce philanthropy. Yes, yes I know a lot of you are saying - hey I don't you see you trying an idea. Well actually I do have an idea and I'm going to do my video and entry this week. I am truly motivated after what I have seen today! Now I'll be interested to read people's comments and see how many think the above ideas I knocked the crap out of are actually brilliant and worthy of the Google project. And how many don't know what sic means grammatically.  more
