moreResolved Question: Is it worth it - monetarily wise - to try to recycle an old refrigerator?
I have two - one is a standard one that is about 10 year old and dead as a door nail. It is metal on the outside and obviously has metal motor parts and other metal parts too.
I also have a dead two-door stainless steel refrig that tenants killed by damaging the inside and cutting many of the wires and freon connections on the back. It is not covered for this kind of damage under the extended warranty or under any other insurance I have.
What do you think? Should I rent a truck and haul them to the local recycling center or call someone to just take them away as scrap for them to get the scrap $$$???
moreResolved Question: Where in California can I recycle heavy duty steel?
I have a 3 huge steel trailer dollys that were used to deliver a very big modular home. It was left here on our property & I was wondering if there was any recycle centers (for steel) that would accept them or pick them up. Any help would be appreciated!!! If you have phone numbers or web link, that would be great!
moreResolved Question: bridge loading limits?
Hi,
we built a bridge using 3/8"X11" I beams. (4 of them)
the open span is 19' (the OA length of the beams is 21') I do not know the grade of steel the beams were.
The beams were recycled and had been through a fire. they were the floor joists for a 2nd story that had undergone a fire. they were not discolored, and had not bent or sagged from the heat.
We shored the beams with supports, and we used 22 gauge form decking across the beams and poured 7.25" of 7bag mix concrete.
we placed a double layer of 1/2" rebar (3" apart vetically) on 16" centers, and then on top of that placed 6X6 mesh.
can you approximate the load bearing capacity of the concrete after a month of curing? (it will cure in the open air in a semi shady area), and we will not remove the supports until it has cured for 30 days.
the overall dimensions of the pad is:
16' 8" X 22'
the steel beams were set on an average 5' 1" center
(the open span between the two inner beams was 5' 1", and the open span on the outer beams was approx 54")
