I have very low space on my computer and am trying to delete a lot of old programs. I noticed that I have Java 6 Update 2, 3, 5, 7, 11 and 12, as well as a Java SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1. I noticed in Add of Remove Programs I seem to have a lot of the same program, like Java. I have a Java 5, a Java 6, a Java 2 runtime environment. I just downloaded the new Java 6 update 11, so can I delete all these other Java's? What about Adobe? I am thinking I will install the update cause it has been bugging me about that, so can I delete the old one? Why doesn't the old one delete automatically when you install a update. My computer is slow for many reasons--in short, there isn't much memory left. I know the biggest cause is the thousands of songs and photos saved on my computer, but I decided I'd clean out the old, unused programs first. I recognized a lot of the things and knew whether to delete them or not, but I came across a number of programs that I couldn't figure out--especially the ones that start with the same name and then end with different letters and numbers. I want to make sure I get rid of all the crap within the programs list, but I don't want to accidently remove something important and crash my computer. With two already computer-challenged parents and two computer-addicted older sisters, the computer's death would lead to my own. (Not literally; they'll all just get really, really mad!!)
